Stumble upon: vintage car show with genuine vintage drivers

LONDON – I did a spot of shopping today and stumbled upon a vintage car display on Oxford Street which had been pedestrianised and as a result, the exhibition attracted quite a crowd. These vintage cars were on display and looked quite grand. Capital! Capital!

I also loved this one.

Ever driven one of these?

Sugar and all things nice

LONDON - I don’t know what it is, but I love to wander into a sweets shop. It brings out a sense of nostalgia in me…sigh. So I was happy to see that St. Christopher’s Place, just off busy Oxford Street, has the very romantic and retro Mrs Kibbles Olde Sweet Shoppe.

I went inside to explore a bit and loved what I saw, as did the two other shoppers who managed to squeeze in to this very tiny shop.

“Just behind you on the shelves,” said the assistant when I asked her for something sour. I turned around and my eyes widened. Oh, there was such good variety too. I bought some apple sour squares (£1) that looked like sugar cubes. When I tried one at home later that day, I was a bit surprised that the entire texture was actually like sugar cubes too. It was not gooey inside, but solid from the outside to the inner core. I wasn’t ready for that, but they did taste good as I crunched away.

But if you don’t like sour sweets, there are plenty of other temptations for you. Mrs Kibbles offers: nougat, chews, boiled sweets, jellies, honeycomb, liquorice, lollipops. Oh, you name it, she’s got it.
