Spring resolutions

LONDON, UK – I resolve to cook and bake more this year. Since living in London I’ve bought a number of cookbooks and yet I still buy ready meals. I used to spend a lot more time in the kitchen, but I guess I just got lazy.

Now, instead of just page turning and admiring the photos, I’m going to focus on three books that I plan to use to sharpen my kitchen skills:

Lily Vanilli’s Sweet Tooth by Gizzi Erskine (she owns the fabulous cafe by Columbia Road)

Jamie’s Great Britain by Jamie Oliver and

Taco’s, Quesadillas and Burritos by Laura Washburn.

WARNING: I bought Lily Vanilli’s Sweet Tooth from Anthropologie for £20. BIG mistake. It’s available on Amazon for £8.

I want to bake a cake first…I’ve already bought the 9″ cake pans. So I’m getting excited. Can you recommend any cook books?

Spring into London

ST. JAMES’S PARK, LONDON – With some warmer temperatures in London, the neighbours and I headed out to St. James’s Park to stroll around and spot the blossoms and daffodils, gaze at the ducks and just relax as we people watched.

Puddles and pretties

LONDON - So much rain, sleet, snow and puddles.

But there were a few hints of Spring. A nearby park was blanketed in these pretty little flowers.

Sundays with daffodils

LONDON - It’s starting to get lighter earlier. When I leave the office, the sun is still out.  Before I used to go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. But now that the sun is setting later, it gives me hope that Summer is going to be here soon. I always say January is the worst month in London and once that’s over, the best is to come. Still to brighten up things, I bought some daffodils. Just 80 p from my local. Soon they’ll be appearing in the parks  too along with the pretty little crocuses.
